In the past month or so I’ve been researching for my benefit as well as for my advertising research class. My general area of questioning is dealing with advertising, but I am very interested in the branding aspect.
My goal today was to send out quite a few emails directly to some advertising agencies in a few locations around the world (US, Australia, and the UK). I also posted a couple of discussion questions on linkedin. Within minutes of sending these emails and posting on linkedin I was receiving all kinds of helpful messages! As a student this has been very beneficial in my understanding of what companies expect in the real world.
It also shows how powerful of a tool the world wide web can be for students and anyone for that matter these days. Not only that but the devices we use to generate these communication tactics is very exciting (right now I’m on my iPhone), not only as a user but for the advertising field as a whole.
Next week I will be posting a paper on my blogsite of the information I have collected from the questions I have asked.

1) What are the 3 (or more) most important aspects of branding I should be worried about today?
2) If I (anyone) were to apply for a job at your agency, what specific skill sets would you look for?
3) What would a starting position at your company be like?
4) Are there set teams that work together on new clients seeking new brand looks/meanings? Who works together (brand managers/creatives/account planners, etc.)?
5) What computer programs are required for working within any position at the company?
6) What else do I need to be asking?
7) Any other advise?
